CONGRATULATIONS go to Stacie Pinnuck who played eight games in the Youth team last season winning all eight of them, by winning these games she as qualified for the World professional play offs at Hull in October. Well done Stacie.
Commiserations go out to Diane Bolland and her family for the loss of her Mother who passed away on Sunday evening a sad loss who will be sorely missed may she RIP.
At the HCDO Annual General Meeting the only significant change was that John Creed was appointed the new Chairman for the County and the Men's League replacing the late Derek Bayliss.
There were no other changes. In the Ladies League it was a disappointment that Hatfield Ladies have withdrawn from the Ladies League leaving just Six teams for the coming season. Another change in the Ladies league the points system as been changed from two points for a win to all games to count (Best Of Nine Games ) with a bonus point for a win. Welwyn Bees have now moved their venue to Sawbridgeworth Social Club and will play as Sawbridgeworth. There was no changes in the Men's apart from Watford rejoining the League bringing the number of teams up to 14. Waltham Cross have relocated to Barnet and are now called Hadley. Diary of Events and the new Fixtures for both the Ladies and Men's Leagues are now on line. I have to announce the sad passing of QEENIE EDKINS who died yesterday aged 89, , QUEENIE was one of the elder stateswoman of Hertfordshire darts she was still coming to the county games even during the past season, another person who will be missed, commiserations and thoughts go to her family at this sad time. RIP.
I understand that funeral arrangements will be placed in the Hertfordshire Mercury this coming week. The last two Men's Competitions have now been completed in the first the World Masters played on the 1st June 2015 the four qualifiers for the Regional Play offs at Slough on the 16th August 2015 are Tony Cox, Matt Robinson, Alfie Smith and Robin Wigg.
The second one was the World Professional play offs on the 8th June 2015 the winner of the competition was Andreas Hajimina who beat Martin Kingsley 4-3 in an excellent final. Andreas now goes forward to Play offs in Hull on the 7th October 2015 for a place at Lakeside in January 2016. I have to inform you that Les Rothwell a former County player has passed away, Les played for the County during the early years a popular person whenever he was around he will be missed, we offer Marion and his family sincere commiserations in their sad loss. RIP.
After three very good wins over Buckinghamshire, Humberside and Montgomery & Radnor Hertfordshire found themselves at the top of the Overall Promotion Table two points clear of Cumbria and four points clear of Worcestershire as the team travelled to Redditch there was a great deal of optimism in the final game of the season
needing a draw to ensure promotion. On Saturday the Ladies gave us a great start with a 4-2 win gained by Debbie Essam who won the match award with a 3-0 win, Linda Reed 3-1, Janet Driscoll 3-2 and Vicky Rannow 3-1. The Men's team playing a team unbeaten this season gave an excellent performance to win 7-5 with wins by David Pinnuck 3-2, Wayne Dawson 3-2, Wayne Stubbings 3-0, match award winner Peter Brown 3-1, John Creed 3-1, Eron Walkes 3-0 and Lee White 3-2. This gave us a 11-7 overall lead at halfway going int Sunday's games. It did not start to well as the Ladies lost the first four games to bring the overall scores level but Jodie Alligan with a match award 3-1 win over their top player and a 3-0 win by Jane Phillips gave us a two point lead it was now up to the Men's team. Not to be outdone the Men's team also lost the first four games before match award winner Ian Clarkson won 4-1 followed by Tony Cox winning 4-1 this brought the overall scores level once again, we had now six games to go but the only player to play well was Chris Hudson who won 4-3. A day that started so promisingly ended up a disaster was it nerves, pressure or some other outcome to only require seven games and only score five is really not good enough for a team at the top of the League so promotion that looked like a foregone conclusion just faded away. Congratulations go to the Youth team for winning the Eastern Division of the Northern Youth Darts Organisation.
After the Home win against Leicestershire the Youth team then travelled to to play their final game of the season away to Leicestershire a 11-3 win was enough to give them the Overall Division title. Pride of place must go to the Under 21 Ladies who won all of their eight games they played with only giving away eight legs in those games a great performance all round. Well done Ladies. Both the U/18's and the U/21 Males both finished second but the final League Tables still have to be published. Against Leicestershire the U/18s won 4-2 with wins for Jarred Cole 2-1 with a 24.21 average and the match award, Stephen Beattie 2-1, Harry Feenstra 2-0 and Georgia Stern also 2-0. The U/21 Ladies won 3-0 with wins for Sammie Jeffreys 2-0, Stacie Pinnuck 2-1 and Danielle Fry 2-0 with a 17.89 average and the match award. The U/21 Males won their game 4-1 with wins for Daniel Varney 3-1 a 24.29 average a 150 finish and the match award, Rex Cole Martin Hill and Doug Thomas all three won their games 3-0. A successful day for the Youth Team. Well done to everybody who played. A tremendous overall 26-13 win brought table toppers Humberside down to earth at the Shamrock Club over the weekend. An 8-4 win the Men's "B" on Saturday was the first time that the Humberside "B" team had lost for over two years.
On Saturday the Ladies "B" team drew 3-3 with debutant Laura Camp winning 3-1 there was a winning return to form by Janet Driscoll but it was Sue Jordan who won 3-2- a 16.59 average who took the Match Award. The Men's "B" team had a great 8-4 win there was some excellent performances from the players but it was last player on Wayne Stubbings completing a great 3-0 win and a 31.31 average to win the Match Award, unluckiest loser was Eron Walkes who deserved to win his game. On Sunday the Ladies "A" team had a field day by winning 5-1 with excellent all round games but it was Jo Kitchen on first who won the Match Award winning3-0 with a 17.48 aveage. The Men's "A" team won the first two lost the next four then won five games in row to win 7-5 to preserve their unbeaten record this season with once again some excellent averages but it was first player on who set the standard to win the Match award with a 4-2 win and a 27.11 average. A terrific win and a great result for all the Hertfordshire players over the weekend. |
